Museo Diocesano di La Maddalena
In prossimità del porto, in pieno centro storico e comunicante con la Chiesa di S. M. Maddalena, ma raggiungibile anche da via Baron Manno, si trova il Museo Diocesano. Parte di un importante progetto di valorizzazione del territorio, il Museo ha come scopo fondamentale la salvaguardia del patrimonio dei beni culturali ecclesiastici consentendone l’esposizione nel contesto d’origine. Al suo interno, ben rappresentata è la storia locale, fortemente caratterizzata dalla fortunata posizione strategica e dall’incontrarsi e fondersi di popolazioni di provenienza diversa: dai sardi ai corsi, dai campani fino ai genovesi, ai toscani ed ai piemontesi. In primo piano il nascere e svilupparsi della comunità religiosa, riccamente testimoniata, anche, dal “Tesoro di S. M. Maddalena” : preziosa raccolta di gioielli offerti come ex voto nel corso di circa due secoli e mezzo. Notevole attrattiva è il corredo d’altare (due candelieri ed un crocefisso d’argento in stile neoclassico) donato dal celebre Ammiraglio Nelson, che accompagnò il dono con una sua lettera autografa. Nel Museo si possono, inoltre, ammirare statue lignee policrome datate dalla fine del 1600, antiche documentazioni delle offerte, arredi sacri, stampe ed incisioni originali costituenti una copiosa sezione rivolta all’iconografia della Santa Patrona.
The Diocesan Museum lays near the harbour, in the middle of the historical centre, connected with the Church of S. M. Magdalen, but reachable also from street Baron Manno. The aim of the museum, which is part of an important project for the development of the local territory, is to safeguard the property of the ecclesiastical cultural goods, exhibiting them in their original context. The local history, strongly characterised by the lucky strategic location of the island of La Maddalena and by the meeting and blending of different populations coming from Sardinia, Corsica, Campania, Genova, Tuscany and Piemonte, is well represented inside the museum. Most important is the birth and development of the religious community, richly testified also from the “Treasure of S. M. Magdalen” : a precious collection of jewels, which were offered as ex-vow in the course of about two centuries and a half. A great attraction of the museum is the set altar (two candlesticks and a silver crucifix in neoclassic style) given as a present from the famous Admiral Nelson with a signed letter. Furthermore in the museum one can admire the wood polychrome statues from the1600, ancient documents of the givings, original printings and carvings which constitute a rich section of the iconography devoted to Saint Mary Magdalen, patron saint of La Maddalena.
In der Nähe des Hafens, gerade im historischen Zentrum und in Verbindung mit der Kirche von S. M. Magdalena, liegt das Diözesan Museum, erreichbar also von Baron-Manno-Strasse. Teil von einem wichtigen Plan für die Verwertung der Gegend hat als grundlegendes Ziel den Schutz des kirchlichen Kulturguts und dabei seine Ausstellung im ursprünglichen Kontext. Die lokale Geschichte, die durch die glückliche Lage des Insels von la Maddalena und durch die Mischung von veschiedenen Bevölkerungen – wie die Einwohner von Campania bis Genova, von Toskana bis Piemonte, Sardischen und Korsischen – stark gekennzeichnet ist, ist im Museum sehr gut dargestellt. Im Vordergrund stehen die Geburt und die Entwicklung der religiösen Gemeinschaft, sehr gut bezeugt von dem „Schatz von S. M. Magdalena“: eine kostbare Sammlung von Juwelen, die von der Bevölkerung im Laufe von ungefähr zweiundeinhalb Jahrhunderten als Votivgabe angeboten wurden. Eine bemerkenswerte Anziehung übt die Altarausrüstung aus (zwei Kerzenhalter und ein Silberkruzifix in neoklassischem Stil), die vom den bekannten Admiral Nelson mit einem autographischen Brief geschenkt wurden. Im Museum kann man außerdem vielfarbige, von 1600 datierte Holzstatuen, alte Zeugnisse der Angebotene, Drücke und Originalgravuren, die einen reichen Teil der Ikonographie der Heiligen Patronin darstellen.
